Minister of External Affairs of India congratulates the newly appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines 

Minister of External Affairs of India Smt. Sushma Swaraj has conveyed her warm congratulations to the newly appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs (SFA) of the Republic of the Philippines, Hon. Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr.

In her message, she has pointed out that India and the Philippines, as two democratic nations with large populations and rapidly growing economies, have much in common. She also mentioned that both the nations have begun to realize the full potential of their bilateral relations after the visit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Manila in November last year and the visit of His Excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte of the Philippines to India in January this year.

She also expressed that she looks forward to Co-Chairing the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) with Secretary of Foreign Affairs to take the bilateral relationship forward as both nations enter the seventieth year of their diplomatic relations.
