Re-issuance of International Drivers Permit

RE-ISSUANCE OF INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS PERMIT

International Driving Permit (IDP) helps the Indian citizens to drive vehicle which is allowed to drive as per Indian Driving Licence, in foreign country which are the signatory of Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, 1949.  

As per the latest notification issued by the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways (MoRT&H), from 15th February, 2021, IDP holders can get their permit renewed from the Indian Embassies, if these expire when they are still abroad. 

Documents required : 

a) Valid Indian Driving Licence 

b) Valid Passport 

c) Expired International Driving Permit 

The applicant must visit the Embassy Consular counter for document verification. Embassy would provide a ‘receipt’ on verifying the documents of the applicant. 

Online Application by the Applicant : After obtaining the above mentioned receipt the applicant should apply for FRESH issue of IDP on the portal https://parivahan.gov.in/. The applicant should upload the necessary documents including the receipt issued by the Embassy on the portal. The fee for the ‘Re-issue of the IDP’ would be paid online on the web-portal. 

Role of licensing authority : On receipt of the application through the portal, licensing authority, on verification of the documents, shall issue the IDP and courier it directly to the address of the applicant.
