As a part of India 70 celebrations, Embassy of India in Manila, Philippines is organizing a Food Festival of India in collaboration with Sofitel Hotel and Resorts. The Food Festival (11 17 September, 2017) was inaugurated on 29th August, 2017 in the presence of various distinguished guests and media. The Food Festival also incorporates cooking class with Chef Halim Ali Khan on 12th September, 2017.

Five Filipino Government personnel from the Department of Budget and Management and Local Government Unit are leaving for India from August 28, 2017 to attend the 11th Advanced Course on Municipal Finance, Expenditure Management and Performance Outcomes organized by Society for Development Studies, New Delhi, under the Indian Technical Economic Programme (ITEC). ITEC is the flagship programme of the Government of India and is aimed at capacity building and sharing developmental experiences. The entire expenditure on the candidates including the air fares are borne by the Government of India.

10 Filipino youths are leaving for India from 14-19 August to attend the first India - ASEAN youth summit to be held in Bhopal. The youth summit will have 10 delegates from each ASEAN country and will interact with another 100 youth delegates from India. The Youth summit is part of the series of events being planned during the year under the theme quotShared values Common destinyquot and the celebrations span political, economic, cultural and people to people contacts. The event which is being organized in association with India Foundation is seen as a platform for young leaders from ASEAN countries and India to network and create institutional cooperation among India - ASEAN region. The Filipino youths have been selected by the National Youth Commission.
The 70th Anniversary of Indias Independence was celebrated with great fervour at India House. Ambassador Jaideep Mazumdar unfurled the tricolour followed by singing of national anthem. Ambassador read out the Presidents message.The function was attended by over 150 members from the Indian community including PIOs and friends of India.Light Indian snacks were served on the occasionA six page and a four page special supplement commemorating the 70th anniversary of Indias Independence was taken out in Philippine Star and Philippine daily Inquirer, two top selling dailies, respectively.
