An event was organized by the Bharati Club (The Expat Indian Women's Association in the Philippines) in association with the Embassy of India, Manila to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 5, 2018 at Ritz Towers, Makati.The Embassy screened a documentary film on Mahatma Gandhi.There was a panel discussion where the panelists namely Mrs. Parvati Mazumdar, Dr. Maria Luisa A.Valdez of Batangas State University, Ms. Vrinda Khattar and Ms. Vijayshree Bhattacharya discussed and shared their thoughts on Mahatma Gandhi's scheme of education, his impact on Filipino students, his views on economic development and caste system in India respectively. Ms. Vaishali Ray also performed a monologue called "Bapu, I am your Kasturi!".Ambassador Mazumdar gave the opening remarks and presented a token of appreciation to the Guest of Honor Prof. Maria Luisa A. Valdez.
